W1.1-Wellness Roadmap

The Wellness Roadmap is my personal plan to become heathier.  I have always performed some level physical activities and have been on many diets in which I have lost weight but I have always returned to old habits.  Habits being the operative work.

About 9 months ago I had decided to focus on getting rid of soft drinks and being aggressive about getting at least 8 hours of sleep.  After focusing on these two items only and applying some directed will power, I believe I created a habit.  I no longer crave soft drinks and I do not like it when I don’t get 8 hrs. of sleep.

This little epiphany got me to thinking.  I know pretty much what I need to do to get heathy.  Why not build upon stage one and try to create a habit for other key wellness related items.  And, oh by the way, blog about it which adds a level of accountability.

I then did a little research on how long professionals say it takes to build a habit.  Most seem to agree it takes, on average, 55 to 70 days.  With 66 days being the mean.  So I chose 60 days to make it a nice round number.

My plan is to tackle two key health elements every 60 days with the plan of making them stick.  I put the elements in an order that makes since to me.  Please note: I am not a doctor, dietitian or a professional trainer.  I am simply someone who has gone through many trials and tribulation when it comes to fitness and health.  I have done a lot of weight loss programs and a lot of fitness programs.  All of them with their good and bad requirements and results.  But, because of this, I have learned a lot.  And I believe this slow paced, habit focused, phased process approach might be the thing for me.

With that said, I created the attached a diagram showing my plan of attack.  As mentioned, I have already successfully completed stage one.  I will be starting stage two at the end of this month.  I will intently focus on portion control and a vitamin regiment in stage two while holding on to the success that I have achieved in stage one; climbing the ladder of success, one habit at a time.

I will also be posting my workout regiments when I get to those point in the process.  I will post them as cards that can be easily used for yourself if you decide to take this journey with me or just use the routines for your own fitness plan.

  1. I really can appreciate what you’re doing here. “Intentional” is the operative word here for me. Now if I’ll just select two- three areas to improve, I’ll be on my way.
